Artist Statement

Eva (1976, The Netherlands) transitioned from painting to ceramics in the past seven years. Her artistic focus primarily centers around crafting big bowls, lighting objects and the studio also produces her tabelware. Her work is a testament to her intuitive approach, characterized by a keen sense of color and a tendency to create round forms.

The choice of round shapes is not arbitrary; it reflects her deep connection to concepts of softness, femininity, and healing. She realizes that these shapes symbolize her longing form humans to become ‘whole’ again. Referring to a society that she perceives as being overburdened. But wholeness is not something to be working on all the time. Life will heal itself trough living it.

She believes that numerous shapes and ideas are available, but you must be present to receive and bring them to life.

About Eva

Eva Follender Grossfeld grew up surrounded by art, religion and nature. Her role in the art world expanded after the birth of her first son. From that moment on, she longed for a simpler and slower life and felt an urgency to process things from within. Eva has been an artist for 15 years starting with painting and transitioning to ceramics in the last 7 years.

She works from her studio in Naarden-Vesting, where she also wants to give others the possibility to experience the contemplative effect of working with clay.
